　　When a new movement in art attains a certain fashion, it is advisable to find out what its advocates are aiming at, for, however farfetched and unreasonable their principles may seem today, it is possible that in years to come they may be regarded as normal. With regard to Futurist poetry, however, the case is rather difficult, for whatever Futurist poetry may be -- even admitting that the theory on which it is based may be right -- it can hardly be classed as Literature.

　　attain a certain fashion“形成某种潮流趋势”;advisable“明智的，可取的”;advocate“提倡者，支持者”;aim at“目的在于”;for引导原因状语从句;farfetched“牵强的”;段首句的主句部分是it is advisable to find out what its advocates are aiming at;with regard to“关于，至于”;however往往位于两个逗号之间，表转折，翻译的时候可以直接放到句首;rather后往往加消极词汇;两个破折号之间为插入语，起到补充说明的作用，可以直接略过。

　　This, in brief, is what the Futurist says:... Consequently, our feelings, thoughts and emotions have undergone a corresponding change... We must pour out a large stream of essential words, unhampered by... Instead of... at will.

　　This, in brief, is what the Futurist says:... says the Futuris... 从冒号到本段结束都是未来主义者的观点。首段作者认为，未来主义诗歌几乎不能归类为文学，所以本段是作者反对的观点。consequently“因此”，可以应用于写作;pour out“倾吐，诉说”;unhampered“不受限制的”;instead of“而不是”;at will“随意，任意”。

　　Certainly their descriptions of battles are confused. But it is a little upsetting to read in the explanatory notes that... consists of...

　　confused“令人困惑的”，可以看出作者对未来主义诗歌的否定态度。upsetting“令人心烦意乱的”;explanatory notes“说明性注解”;that引导同位语从句;consist of“由...组成”。

　　This, though it fulfills the laws and requirements of Futurist poetry, can hardly be classed as Literature. All the same, no thinking man can refuse to accept their first proposition: ...

　　fulfill“履行，满足”，在此可以引申为“符合”。This can hardly be classed as Literature.再一次点明作者观点;no thinking man can refuse to accept可以削减否定为thinking man can accept。
