　　effortless“容易的，不费力气的”;dreadful“可怕的，糟糕的”;handicap“障碍，不利条件”;driving force“推动力”;enter a glowing period“步入辉煌时期”;unparalleled“无与伦比的，空前的”。Its scientists were the world’s best, its workers the most skilled.逗号后补充完整应该是 Its scientists were the world’s best, (and) its workers (were) the most skilled.如果并列句前后两个分句主语不同，但是有相同的be动词，可以省略连词和后一个分句的be动词。prosperous“繁荣的，兴旺的”，动词形式prosper;destroy“毁掉，破坏”。
