　　经典句1：Your humor must be relevant to the audience and should help to show them that you are one of them or that you understand their situation and are in sympathy with their point of view.

　　【词与词组记忆】be relevant to 与···相关

　　in sympathy with sb/sth 同意，赞同

　　【长难句分析】本句的主干部分是Your humor must be relevant to the audience and should help to show them，并列2个谓语动词，动词不定时to show 后有两个由or连接的并列的宾语从句1)that you are one of them和2)that you understand their situation and are in sympathy with their point of view

　　【参考译文】你的幽默必须与听众有关，向他们表明你是他们中的一员，或者你了解他们的处境并赞同他们的观点。

　　经典句2：If you are part of the group, which you are addressing, you will be in a position to know the experiences and problems which are common to all of you and it’ll be appropriate for you to make a passing remark about the inedible food or the chairman’s notorious bad taste in ties.

　　【词与词组记忆】address n. 地址;讲话;演讲

　　v. 对···发表讲话

　　Be in a position to do sth有条件去做···;可以做···

　　make a passing remark 顺便评论一下;顺便说一句

　　Inedible a. 不可食用的;不能吃的

　　notorious a. 声名狼藉的，臭名昭著的(该词是一个贬义词)

　　【长难句分析】该句主干是一个并列结构：you will be in a position to know the experiences and problems and it’ll be appropriate for you to make a passing remark about the inedible food or the chairman’s notorious bad taste in ties. 句首的if从句是条件状语从句，从句中嵌套一个定语从句 which you are addressing修饰限定the group。主干中第二个小分句的结构是it’ll be appropriate for sb to do sth。

　　【参考译文】如果你是你谈话对象集体中的一员，你就有条件去了解你们所共有的经历和问题，你就可对餐厅极难吃的食物或者总裁在选择领带方面差劲的品味进行评头论足。
