While the statement is vague, it represents one starting point.(2019

Intelligence seeks to grasp, manipulate, re-order, and adjust, while intellect examines, ponders, wonders, theorizes, criticizes and imagines.

Now researchers suspect that dreams are part of the mind’s emotional thermostat, regulating moods while the brain is “off-line.”(当)

In May, Julie Nimmons, president of Schutt Sports in Illinois, successfully fought a lawsuit involving a football player who was paralyzed in a game while wearing a Schutt helmet.(当)

1.Most archaeological sites have been located by means of careful searching, while many others have been discovered by accident.(然而)

2.While traditional “paid” media—such as television commercials and print advertisements—still play a major role, companies today can exploit many alternative forms of media.(虽然)

      3. Russians have a deep love for their own language and carry large chunks of memorized poetry in their heads, while Italian politicians tend to elaborate speech that would seem old-fashioned to most English-speakers.(然而)

      (A)are supportive of

      (B)are biased against

For doctors treating patients with COVID-19, the pressures of managing a pandemic illness are aggravated by the fact that their North Stars for treatment decisions—peer-reviewed reports in medical journals—are also facing steep challenges in finding ways to publish reliable information with far less time than they are accustomed to having.

The doctors are under greater pressure because___.

      A. medical journals have no stable data source

      B. peer-review process has been overstated

      C. peer-reviewed reports are under challenges

      D. treatment decisions are facing  challenges

      managing a pandemic illness:治疗流行病

      aggravated 加剧

      North Star

      be accustomed to 习惯

      the pressures  are aggravated

这里的:their North Star =peer-reviewed reports in medical journals

their North Stars are also facing steep challenges

      =peer-reviewed reports are under challenges

      C. peer-reviewed reports are under challenges

A.medical journals have no stable data source

      B.peer-review process has been overstated

      C. peer-reviewed reports are under challenges

      D. treatment decisions are facing  challenges

their North Star for treatment decisions are also facing steep challenges.

treatment decisions are also facing steep challenges.

      Rushing Science in the Pandemic

      Source: https://time.com/5851849/coronavirus-science-advice/
