　　Facebook first showed off its 3D photos back in 2018,and shared the technical details behind it a monthlater. But unless you had one of a handful of phoneswith dual cameras back then (when they weren't socommon), you couldn't make your own. Today anupdate brings 3D photos to those of us still rockinga single camera.

　　2018年Facebook首次展示了3D照片，一个月之后又分享了产品的技术细节。但当时除非你有一部双摄像头的手机(那时这种手机还不多)，否则你自己拍不出这种效果。现在更新后的技术让我们只有单摄像头手机的人也能拍出3D照片了。

　　In case you don't remember or haven't seen one lately, the 3D photos work by analyzing a 2Dpicture and slicing it into a ton of layers that move separately when you tilt the phone orscroll. I'm not a big fan of 3D anything, and I don't even use Facebook, but the simple fact isthis feature is pretty cool.

　　The problem is it used the dual-camera feature to help the system determine distance, whichinformed how the picture should be sliced. That meant I, with my beautiful iPhone SE, was outof the running — along with about a billion other people who hadn't bought into the dual-camera thing yet.

　　But over the last few years the computer vision team over at Facebook has been working onmaking it possible to do this without dual-camera input. At last they succeeded, and this blogpost explains, in terms technical enough that I'm not even going to attempt to summarizethem here, just how they did it.

　　The advances mean that many — though not all — relatively modern single-camera phonesshould be able to use the feature. Google's Pixel series is now supported, and single-cameraiPhones from the 7 forward. The huge diversity of Android devices makes it hard to say whichwill and won't be supported — it depends on a few things not usually listed on the spec sheet —but you'll be able to tell once your Facebook app updates and you take a picture.

　　取得的进步意味着虽然并非所有手机，但是目前很多相对高级的单摄像头手机应该都能使用这一功能了。谷歌Pixel系列现在支持这一功能，还有单摄像头的iPhone 7及配置更高的手机都可以。安卓手机种类太多，很难说哪些安卓手机支持这一功能，这取决于一些通常没有在产品规格中显示的数据。但你只要更新一下手机中的Facebook应用，拍个照片就知道了。
