　　 考研英语翻译中，有一项考察的就是陌生的惯用句型，其中常见的是几种比较结构的翻译。在翻译的时候，首先要能准确地理解表示比较的关键词的含义，然后才能够进行贴切的翻译表达。常见的比较结构的意义比较容易理解，翻译起来也比较简单，如：I am younger than he.(我比他年轻)。因此，这里重点讲一下在意义上大家不太熟悉的比较结构的翻译。希望对 2016考研的考生们有所帮助。

　　(一)not so much A as B句型

　　not so much A as B这个结构表示的基本意义和not as (or so) A as B一样，但是通常翻译为“与其说A不如说B”。

　　Success lies not so much in luck as in hard work.

　　与其说成功在于运气不如说是辛勤努力。

　　另外，表示“与其说…不如说…”的意思的短语还有less...than..., more...than...。如：

　　I regard him less as my teacher than as my friend.

　　与其说我把他当作老师，不如说我是把他当作朋友。

　　I regard him more as my friend than as my teacher.

　　(二)not so much as…句型

　　not so much as…这个结构相当于“not even…”，所以通常翻译为“甚至不…，甚至没有…”。请注意与not so much …as…这个结构的区别。

　　He didn’t so much as ask me to set down.

　　他甚至没有请我坐下。

　　(三)no more A than B句型

　　no more A than B句型在意义上与not A any more than B一样，表示对两者都否定，所以可以翻译为“A和B一样不，不A正如B不，既不B也不A，A和B两者都不”。跟no more A than B句型相近，但是意义相反的句型是no less…than…，可以翻译为“既是…，也是…，两者都是…”。

　　His grammar is no better than mine.

　　他的语法同我的一样不好。

　　He is no more a writer than a painter.

　　他既不是画家也不是作家。

　　He is no less a writer than a painter.

　　他既是画家也是作家。

　　I am no more a poet than he is a scholar.

　　我不是诗人，正如他不是学者一样。

　　(四)not more...than 指两者都具有某种特征，但是程度不同，意为“不如”“不及”(=not so... as; less…than…)

　　She is not more clever than he is.

　　她不如他聪明。

　　(=She is not so clever as he is.)

　　This book is not more difficult than that one.

　　这本书不及那本书难。

　　(This book is not so difficult as that one.)
